Eating Disorder Nutrition Therapy
Whether you are just beginning your journey in recovery or are stepping down from a higher level of treatment our work together will focus on restoring balance. Grounded in the philosophy that there are no “good” or “bad” foods, the role of the dietitian is to help you or your family member regain a sound and flexible relationship with food. The treatment of eating disorders involves a multi-disciplinary approach. Nutrition Therapy sessions typically involve a variety of techniques designed to meet you where you are and gradually work towards continued growth and recovery.
Specific to Eating Disorder Nutrition Therapy:
Challenging thought distortions
Addressing rituals/behaviors
Exposure therapy
Mindfulness/Intuitive eating
Meal plan compliance
Anthropometric monitoring
Most importantly, the treatment of eating disorders requires a multi-disciplinary approach. I will coordinate with your outpatient team to maintain appropriate continuity of care and ensure the best outcomes for your recovery.
Out-of-Office Lifestyle Change
I recognize that, for many, the largest obstacle standing between you and reaching your goals, is implementation. That is why I find it of the utmost importance to make myself available when you need it most. The simple act of having someone there to coach you through the interventions identified in session can make all the difference. Whether you are in need of identifying items in the supermarket or want some help sticking to your meal plan, I am available on select days/evenings to accompany you.
